                        9/18-EBR-ZERO,Hauntings of Katrina,

became a book idea during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  In the weeks that followed Katrina, each day was a struggle to adapt to not having what we have always taken for granted.  The ability to go to the grocery whenever we ran out of food; having electricity for everything from morning coffee, TV, light to see at night, washing clothes, using the computer,  cooking, and many other simple things; having no telephones, land lines or cell phones; no gas stations; newspaper delivery; and in some cases no ability to get to medical treatments and drug stores for necessary medications.  We were isolated from the rest of the world.  I began to write down my experiences when I realized that this was going to be a long hard road to normalacy.  Having only a battery powered radio for news of the "outside," I heard of the widespread destruction and problems going on in the rest of our parishes.  It was then that I also wrote of my feelings and thoughts about the news I was hearing, and later seeing on televisions when I was able to go other places.  Even as things improved, I knew life would never be the same here.  I decided that people around the world were interested in how ordinary people were coping with the situation, and not what the news decided to show.  This story is only one of the millions of stories yet to be told.
There are many books that are being told and sold by individuals from every walk of life from the devastated area.  Every one of them should be part of our history.  My book, and many others can be found on Amazon.com.
